Apprenticeship review
Apprenticeship review
For over 10 years, B11 Education have been helping education establishments to ensure learners benefit from the highest education possible. That support now extends to apprenticeship training providers and ensuring that they are prepared for the rigours of their first monitoring visit or full inspection. We can also support with addressing the areas for improvement that may have been identified.
B11 Education can conduct a review of your apprenticeship provision so that you can be sure of the accuracy of your self-evaluation: strengths, areas for development and impact of your improvement actions prior to a visit by Ofsted.
As one of our consultants has said,
“Too often the formal visit by Ofsted comes too late to have an impact on the provision for groups of learners. As a result, much of what I have inspected could have been sorted out by an earlier review.”
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- We start with a conversation to find out about your provision. Are you a single site provider or do you deliver across multiple sites at a regional or even national scale?
- In collaboration with you, we develop a focus for the review and a timetable for what we will look at.
- A typical timetable will include activities such as scrutiny of learner documentation, including initial assessments, programme outlines, reflective accounts and observation feedback; observations of an off-the-job practical and a theory lesson in different locations; face-to-face and telephone interviews with a sample of apprentices, employers and trainers; and face-to-face and telephone interviews with the training director from the commissioning provider.
- The duration is likely to be about four days to cover the breadth of provision that you offer, though this could be reduced to three days if your delivery is localised.
- We will provide a comprehensive report that sets out the strengths along with areas for development, including recommended actions.
A recent client explains what they thought of this service:
“This is exactly what we needed. We had been given some advice that proved to be inaccurate and, in spite of challenging some of that guidance, we had been told time and again that the processes we had in place were more than adequate for the apprenticeships we were providing. Fortunately, we were able to engage an expert through B11 Education, who provided the level of expertise we have needed all along. They told us what was good about what we do but also pointed out where we need to do better. It is now absolutely clear what we need to work on and we have already booked a follow-up session with the reviewer to develop an action plan.”
